Located in Tumwater, Wash., The Stampfer Center, home of Camp Solomon Schechter, founded in 1954, offers a premiere Jewish camping experience and is a focal point for Jewish youth entering grades 2-12. Four summer camp sessions are available. A private lake is the centerpiece of Camp Solomon Schechter, and the wooded 160-acre campsite lies along the Deschutes River.

Campers are supervised by an experienced staff of mature counselors, many of whom are former Camp Solomon Schechter campers. They bring expertise in Jewish learning, crafts, drama, swimming, boating, music, sports, and nature. The high staff-to-camper ratio ensures a safe and successful Jewish camping environment.

The center offers: kosher dining, a shomer Shabbat facility, comfortable heated bunkhouses that include bathrooms and showers, a log dining room with a stunning lake view, miles of wooded hiking trails, water sports and boating and separate adult housing facilities.

The Stampfer Center is available for year-round rentals for Jewish organizations, family reunions, b'nai mitzvah, weddings and day rentals. The Stampfer Center provides opportunities for year-round Jewish living and learning, including family camp Shabbatons.

Camp Young Judaea West offers a three-week camping program in a warm and nurturing environment. They provide a Zionist and Jewish experience where Judaism and a love of Israel enhance everything they do - from singing Hebrew songs around the campfire to making Judaica craft projects to transforming camp into Israel. Each week culminates with a moving celebration of Shabbat, and their many exciting peulot (activities) enable them to experience a taste of Israel in Salem, Ore. A Camp Young Judaea West summer is a fun summer that provides a wonderful way for campers to connect with their Jewish identities.

Camp staff from around the United States and Israel fly in to supervise activities such as Yom Israel, Yom Tiyul, supervised swimming, horseback riding, field hockey, gaga, volleyball, archery, basketball and arts and crafts.

Creative activities and informal discussions about a variety of topics challenge the campers to explore Jewish identity, Zionism, Israel, tikkun olam and social justice.  The campers are encouraged to develop a sense of personal responsibility and community through daily work projects such as painting, dining room duty and recycling.
