Family Education

Babysitting: Ages 1-3. Meets in Room 4/5, weekly from 10:15am to 12:15pm. This program provides a fun, safe place for young children to play and explore during Shabbat morning services. A babysitter is provided by Beth Shalom. 

Tot Shabbat: Ages 0-3. Meets in Room 2, monthly from 11-11:30am. Tots and their parents gather to sing songs, march with stuffed Torahs, and learn about Jewish history and values.  This program meets in room 4/5.

Future Daveners of Israel (FDI): Ages 3-6. Meets in Room 1, weekly from 10:45am to 12:15pm. This program includes a mini-service, songs, stories, and learning about everything from the weekly parsha to Jewish holidays. Children may participate with or without their parents.

Kid's Kehilla: Ages 7-11. Meets in Room 2, weekly from 10:45am to 12:15pm. Come participate in this parent led service, including T'fillot (prayers), parsha study, learning about Jewish holidays and values, and more!

Youth Minyan: Ages include Post-B’nai Mitzvah to High School Graduation. Meets in the Beit Midrash, monthly from 10am to Noon.
A youth only, no adults allowed service – complete with our own service, Torah reading, and more! Then, join together for a yummy lunch and brownies!

Family Sukkot Dinner: October 14, 2011 - Join us for a community dinner in the Sukkah! Services at 6:00 pm, Dinner at 6:45 pm. RSVP and pre-pay to (206) 524-0074 by October 10th. 

Simchat Torah Services: October 20, 2011 - Celebrate as we finish reading the Torah and begin with dancing, celebrating, noshing, being called to the Torah and much more!

Blessing of the (Stuffed) Animals: On Shabbat morning, October 29, 2011 join us during services for a blessing of our favorite stuffed animals, in honor of Parshat Noah.  Children of all ages are invited to bring their favorite stuffed animal to shul for a special blessing and processional of animals!  Or, if you are feeling adventurous, children may also dress up as their favorite animal!  Unfortunately, we must request that you not bring live animals to this program.  To ensure you are here on time, plan to arrive at services by approximately 10:15am.

Pajama Havdallah Creatures of the Night:  November 19, 2011 - 6:30-8:30 pm - Come in your pajamas for a special Havdallah service, followed by a leap into the world of nightime creatures! Marci Greenberg, Jewish educator extraordinaire, will teach us about creature like bats and owls and what they have to with Judaism! Plus arts and crafts. story time, snacks and more!

CBS Hannukah Party: December 20, 2011 - 6:00-8:00 pm - Come light the hanukkiah with the entire congregation. This party is always a blast!

Pajama Havdallah Lights up the Night: February 4, 2012 - 6:30-8:30 pm (with a special later performance until 9:00 for older kids) - Come in your pajamas for a special Havdallah service, and then be amazed by the Radical Reactions program by the Pacific Science Center. Watch a magical show filled with heat, light, gas, color changes, and much more! The learn about the roles fire plays in Jewish life! Plus arts and crafts, story time, snack and more!

Purim Carnival and Celebrations: Join us the evening of March 7, 2012 for our megillah reading and Purim carnival. Festivities continue the morning of March 8, 2012 with more megillah reading fun!

From Apples to Zeroah: A Passover Celebration; March 25, 2012 - 1:00-4:00 pm - Join us for an afternoon of Passover prep, including art projects for kids, learning for adults and much more!

CBS Family Camp: June 8-10, 2012 - This event is an annual family favorite.  Join us this year for a fun-filled weekend at Camp Solomon Schechter full of learning, playing, and making wonderful new friends.  This event sells out every year.  It is one you don't want to miss.  Forms will be available in the winter.

Sunday Parasha Study: Meets weekly in the beit midrash from 10:30-11:30. Discussion and study of the weekly parasha. A chance to study the parasha up close.
