Bringing Jewish Voice(s) to the Conversation around Abortion
Wednesday, June 29, 2022 • 30 Sivan 5782
8:00 PM - 9:00 PMZoomWith the recent overturn of Roe v. Wade, many in our country are talking about abortion, and when religion is part of that conversation, it’s usually from the perspective of the Christian right. But Jewish tradition actually brings an entirely different voice to the conversation, through a nuanced religious lens that values not only the potential life of the fetus, but also the life of the pregnant person, physical and mental health, and humility in the face of difficult choices. Join Rabbi Rose for a text-based class exploring Jewish perspectives on abortion, when abortion is permitted (or even required) by Jewish law, and how we might think about this issue through the lens of Jewish tradition as opposed to other religious traditions.
Note: if you took Rabbi Roses’ three-part series on this topic last fall, the texts will already be familiar to you, but you’re welcome to join nonetheless!
Register below by 5pm on Wednesday, June 29th to be sent the Zoom information, or check Sunday's "This Week at Beth Shalom" email for the Zoom link.
