Mitzvah Corps
Mitzvah Corps
Our mission is to provide care for members of the Beth Shalom community during times of need. We are inspired by the Jewish values of gemilut chasadim (acts of lovingkindness), bikur cholim (visiting the sick), and nichum aveilim (comforting mourners).
Mitzvah Corps, through volunteers, provides the following assistance on a limited basis:
- Support for mourners including meals (including meals of consolation), Shiva minyan leaders and Mitzvah Corps representatives who help mourners with shiva minyan hosting.
- Meals for congregants who are ill, injured, or recovering from surgery; and for parents welcoming new children (through birth, adoption, or fostering).
- Occasional rides to medical appointments for members who are ill, injured, or recovering from surgery. Other assistance as determined.
