Join us on January 28th after kiddush lunch for a talk on environmental justice and faithful advocacy by Sr. Jessica Zimmerle of Earth Ministry/Washington Interfaith Power and Light. Jessica will discuss how people of faith have a right and responsibility to speak up on issues that affect our air, water, land, and communities. The faith community is an important constituency with a unique moral voice, yet faithful advocacy can seem intimidating at first and many people don't know how to begin. This workshop will demystify the process and provide training for communicating your values to elected officials. Content will focus on state legislation that furthers environmental justice, a social movement addressing the unfair exposure of poor and marginalized communities to hazardous waste, pollution, and the effects of climate change, among other issues.
