The Kabbalah of the Exodus (in person)
Sunday, April 3, 2022 • 2 Nisan 5782
10:00 AM - 11:00 AMThe Chida, Rabbi Chaim Yosef David Azulai, was one of the extraordinary rabbis of the 18th century. Born in Jerusalem, he lived much of his life in Hebron, when he was traveling through the world to raise money for yeshivot. Despite his travels, the Chida managed to write seventy Hebrew works on almost every area of Jewish learning, including several commentaries on the Haggadah.
For the past two years Rabbi Greenspan has been translating Simchat HaRegel, the Chida’s commentary on the Haggadah. Simchat HaRegel (Joy of the Festival) attempts to explain the story of the Exodus through the lens of 17th century Kabbalah. We will explore some of his fascinating insights to understand the nature of redemption and the beginning of Jewish history. Rabbi Greenspan, a new resident of Seattle, recently retired from congregational life on Long Island, New York will also celebrate the completion of the translation on Erev Pesach with a Siyyum for the first born (and anyone else who cares to attend).
Register below by 9am Friday, April 1 to attend.
