Yom Hashoah (after Monday evening minyan)

Monday, May 6, 2024 28 Nisan 5784

7:45 PM - 8:45 PMCBS Sanctuary

Join us for minyan (7:30pm), including special tefillot (prayers) in memory of all those who perished during the Shoah. Afterwards, we will hear from Sandy Kibort and her daughters, Hannah and Emma, about their family's story of surviving the Shoah.

Sandy Kibort’s parents, Hinda and Leo, were teenagers in Shovel, Lithuania when the war broke out. Under Nazi occupation, they were dehumanized, stripped of their property, rights, and freedom. In 1941 they were forced into ghettos and later deported to concentration camps. They managed to survive through a combination of grit, courage, and luck. Throughout the war Hinda and Leo each strived to maintain a sense of dignity and humanity, each in their own distinct way. These qualities, along with an unwavering commitment to social justice, are the legacy they passed on to their children and grandchildren. Join Sandy and her daughters, Hannah and Emma, to memorialize their family history. Never forget, never again.
