Have you wanted to learn more about havdalah? What’s behind those rituals and blessings? We’re used to blessing candles and wine, but why would we bless spice? And why so much ritual to say goodbye to Shabbat? Come to a one-week class learning the theology and history and practice behind havdalah with Rabbi Borodin.

Make your Own Ceramic Havdalah Set with Jacquie Hill and Rabbi Borodin
Studio Opportunity: a chance to make your own ceramic havdalah set at a local ceramic artist's studio in the neighborhood with ceramics teacher Jacquie Hill and Rabbi Borodin. The studio portion of the class is four weeks, with two weeks sculpting the clay and two weeks of glazing. (And there will be opportunities to make other items if you finish this quickly). Class is limited to 7 students. We will have two sections. One on Wednesday nights and one on Tuesday nights. All supplies are included.
Due to the limited space, this class is available only for Beth Shalom members.
Two sections:
Wednesday nights, 7:30-9:30pm: 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/18
Tuesday nights, 7:30-9:30pm: 3/3, 3/10, 3/17 and 3/24
Cost: $250
Beth Shalom will refund tuition in the event this course is canceled. Tuition must be paid in full one week before class begins and will not be eligible for a refund in the event of course withdrawal after 1/21 (for the Wednesday course) and 2/24 (for the Tuesday course).
