Farm Tour

Sunday, August 31, 2025 7 Elul 5785

All Day

You're invited to join CBS at Blue Moose Farm at 12:30pm on Sunday, August 31.  The farm is located near Vashon Island's western shore.  The farm covers seven acres, with half dedicated to forest conservation and the other half to agriculture, home to a mix of ducks, geese, and chickens who will eat from your hand.

A short ferry ride from West Seattle, Blue Moose Farm is a few minutes from Vashon’s town center, where restaurants, farm stands, quaint shops, and opportunities to sample local ciders are available. Participants can expect to spend time on the land, learn about the conservation and farming efforts, and build community in a relaxed environment.

This trip is a chance to step away from the city, engage with nature, and reflect on our connection to each other and the environment. We hope you can join us.

The program begins at 12:30pm with a vegetarian potluck lunch (we encourage contributions of food prepared from locally grown ingredients). Following lunch, we'll tour the farm, do some Torah study and have dessert.

We recommend catching the 11:35am ferry from the Fauntleroy terminal (West Seattle) at the latest.  You may also catch the 10:45am ferry and spend some time in downtown Vashon before the program starts.  Please keep in mind that there may be long lines to catch the ferry, and the ferry schedule is subject to change.  Please verify the schedule before your departure.  The ferry crossing takes about 20 minutes, and it's another 20-30 minutes to drive to the farm from the ferry terminal.  You'll receive the farm address upon submitting your registration.

In addition to registering below, we ask that you also let us know your potluck contribution and carpool information.  Carpooling is encouraged,  but not required.  It will be up to you to plan your own carpool based on the information you see from other participants.

Please bring water to drink and wear comfortable shoes.  Depending on the number of participants we may need you to bring folding chairs and/or a picnic blanket.
Please leave your dogs at home.  Farm owners have two senior dogs that do not get along with other dogs.
